You would not run your business without a business plan; why do most of us run our lives without a life plan? Rob Follows is passionate about life planning and will weave that concept into a much, much larger tale. Rob and Katrina Follows will tell us the story of being the first couple from the Americas to climb the “seven summits” – the highest peak on each of the seven continents including Mt. Everest. Rob and Katrina not only climbed the summits – they are the only couple in history to get engaged, get married and have their honeymoon on three of the seven.
Their climbs and their romance are not the end of the story. Their Everest ascent was also aimed at their other passion: philanthropy. After selling Rob’s award winning Canadian promotional marketing agency, AIM, he not only continued his business endeavors, but founded Altruvest Charitable Services in 1994. Altruvest is focused on giving capacity building tools to charities for free to increase their charitable capacity to give more of donors’ donations to their good causes. BoardMatch LeadersTM, BoardMatch FundamentalsTM, and BoardWorxTM are programs delivered by Altruvest Charitable Services to support the capacity of charities (www.altruvest.org). The objective of the Mt. Everest climb was to raise awareness for the good work that Altruvest is doing as well as to raise $1M of seed capital for an endowment to ensure that Altruvest can continue to give tools to charities for many generations to come.
In combining his education, ten years of entrepreneurial leadership, and his fifteen years of international corporate experience Rob launched STS Capital Partners in the USA, Canada, Mexico, and the UK. Rob has been involved with/led over 50 successful M&A transactions in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Latin America. As a proponent of strategic philanthropy, Rob enjoys working with clients who may be interested in selling all or part of their firms to move their focus from Success in their lives to whatever Significance may be for them. Rob is committed to encouraging philanthropy and altruism and speaks to encourage more creative and abundant giving.
