Rob Follows has graciously agreed to stay over the night and provide a seminar on his business expertise: mergers & acquisitions.  We will have a roundtable discussion providing an opportunity to discuss in a “forum rules” setting to discuss strategies, tactics and case studies of approaches to buying and selling businesses.

Rob’s firm, STS Capital Partners is an international boutique investment banking firm specializing in mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance for small and mid-market companies in the USA, Canada, Europe, and Latin America. The name STS comes from “Success to Significance,” a reflection of the firm’s mission to assist successful entrepreneurs and CEOs in the major strategic decisions that help them move from successful achievements to true significance, both personally and with the companies and the investments they steward.

The Founder and Partners formed an international network of advisors with experience in a broad range of industries. This network brings added value to mid-market management, investors and owners who are seeking business advice and investment banking services tailored to that advice.  In addition to strategic operating advice and tailored financial products, the STS international network also opens up to mid-market companies much larger potential markets for acquisitions or divestitures. In the case of acquisitions, this results in a greater range of targets and potential fit. In the case of divestitures, it usually means larger, more competitive auctions and greater sale price multiples.

This structure allows STS to think locally to understand smaller companies and their specific operating environment, but to act globally, providing a window for clients into international markets and services.

Rob has a BA with distinction from the University of Toronto; an LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University; he studied under the not-for-profit management program at UofT/Sheridan College; and earned a Masters from Oxford University’s Saϊd Business School in Advanced Strategy. During an Advanced Leadership Program at Oxford University’s Templeton College, Rob received an academic sponsorship to do a Ph.D. at Oxford on the concept of and implications for Altruvest.
