Walt Rackowich will tell us about the challenges of running a global real estate operation, navigating the politics, customs and laws of countries around the world as well as his company’s commitment to environmentally responsible operations.
Headquartered here in Denver, ProLogis operates the world’s largest portfolio of industrial distribution facilities. It totals 526.3 million square feet in 121 markets globally – the equivalent of almost 7,000 football fields. But the ProLogis platform covers more than buildings alone. It includes extensive land holdings – and global relationships with leading manufacturers, retailers, logistics companies and other large-scale users of distribution space.
ProLogis has responded proactively to the trends of sustainable development . ProLogis is recognized as having world-class expertise in this area, and continues to expand the number and scope of our various sustainability programs in order to maintain that leadership position. In February 2007, ProLogis became the first real estate company in the world to join the Chicago Climate Exchange, the world’s first voluntary greenhouse gas emissions reduction and carbon credit trading program. And in April 2007, we became the first U.S. real estate company to issue a sustainability report in accordance with standards set by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
The event will take place in ProLogis’ world headquarters facility – the first privately owned LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified office building completed in Denver.
