If you look at most of the visible, complex, politically sensitive deals in Denver’s history – The Democratic National Convention, DIA, construction of Invesco Field for the Broncos, construction of the Pepsi Center for Ascent Sports, the proposed NASCAR track – they all have one person in common: Steve Farber. Consistently recognized by 5280 Magazine as one of the most powerful people in Denver, Steve ranks at or near the top of the list.
Steve will talk about his role and his firm’s role in the local political landscape of Denver, Colorado and the US as well as his fascinating entrepreneurial story - an unlikely tale of how he – a kid from modest north Denver - and his two friends from law school chose to start their own firm rather than follow the traditional path of joining an established firm upon graduation from the University of Colorado Law School.
Steve has served the community actively throughout his career with service on boards, non-profits, and blue ribbon committees too numerous to list. He has been enlisted by both Democratic and Republican Governors to assist them in the business of the State and to help in their campaigns.
In 2004, Mr. Farber received the Del Hock Lifetime Achievement Award from the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce. In 2007, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award for Private Practice from the University of Colorado School of Law. He is also the 2007 recipient of the Barbara Davis High Hopes Award in recognition for his many contributions to the community and the Children's Diabetes Foundation.
Steve founded the American Transplant Foundation in 2006 after a donation of a kidney from his son, Gregg, saved his life.
