Chris’ Campaign Website

You have a good life, a happy family and a very successful business to run – what would possess you to run for public office?  And if you ran, would you choose a local office, a state office – what the heck, why not just run for the United States House of Representatives?  YPO Rocky Mountain’s very own Chis Lien has made this precise decision, and is actively campaigning to become South Dakota’s at-large representative to Congress – running against an incumbent Democrat.

Chris has agreed to give us an only-in-YPO account of his run…but obviously will either have an extraordinarily hectic schedule or a fair amount of free time depending on the outcome of the election on November 4th.  We’re going to hang tight before scheduling this one!

Chris is an established businessman, civic leader and family man who has been positively impacting communities throughout South Dakota and neighboring states for 20 years.  As Concrete Division President for Pete Lien and Sons, Chris has worked hard with his family to improve upon the business founded almost 60 years ago by providing quality construction material supplies that support the infrastructure and agricultural development of South Dakota.  Chris’s earlier business experience includes leadership of companies throughout South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado, including Campbell County Concrete, Birdsall Sand and Gravel, and Trans-Colorado Concrete.

Chris has served as a team member, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Ellsworth Task Force for the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce.  In 2005, the Task Force worked with the community, Governor’s office and congressional delegation to successfully remove Ellsworth Air Force Base from the Base Realignment and Closure Committee’s closure list. Chris’s support of community and his knowledge of the needs of South Dakotans is evident in his numerous roles within the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce, South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and his appointment as Member of the Worker’s Compensation Advisory Council.  He also is a member of the Defense Orientation Conference Association and the Young Presidents' Organization.
