Steve,
I hope your summer is going well. I am not sure who to send this to but I think you are the one. I am the Chairman of a business/education organization called Colorado Succeeds. Our President is a gentleman named Tim Taylor. Tim is close friends with Dan Bartlett who was one of the very close inside advisors to President Bush (see the New York Times article below). Dan will be in Colorado visiting Tim for vacation and while he is here Tim is hosting a private lunch to get a inside look at what happened during the Bush administration. This is a small event and a completely unique opportunity to hear what really happened inside the Bush White House. He will discuss how were decisions made and why. This is not a fundraiser nor is it a partisan event, it is just a unique opportunity that Tim has put together. There is no user cost. Please let me know if you would like to extend an invitation to the chapter. A copy of the invitation is also shown below.

Dan Bartlett, served as Counselor to the President for George W. Bush from 2002 until 2007. In this capacity, Bartlett was responsible for all aspects of President Bush's strategic communications planning and the formulation of policy and implementation of the President's agenda. He also oversaw the White House Press Office and the Offices of Communications, Media Affairs, and Speechwriting. Bartlett was one of the President’s longest serving aides and closest confidants.
The following is from a NY Times Article, Bush’s Longest Serving Aide Plans to Depart, dated June 1, 2007:
Mr. Bartlett was among a special class of advisers, and he was occasionally described as having a father-son relationship with Mr. Bush.
“The nature of the advice he gave the president,” Ms. Wallace said, “was that it stayed between himself and the president. And the very source of his power and influence was the fact that he had a kind of a constituency of really just the president.”
In a White House not known as exceptionally friendly or very accessible to the news media, presumably based on the president’s preference, Ms. Wallace said, “what has been possible has been Dan’s doing.”
At the White House, Mr. Bartlett has not received the same public notice as Mr. Rove. But he has been on hand for almost every major decision Mr. Bush has made, including the planning for the Afghan and Iraqi campaigns and the recent decision to increase troops in Iraq.
Asked Friday whether he had regrets about the administration’s communications about the war, Mr. Bartlett said: “There will be plenty of time to pick over some of the decisions I helped make and determine whether they were done right or wrong. I’m sure there are plenty that are right, and plenty that are wrong.”
He demurred when asked about the counterbalancing role he was said to have among Mr. Bush’s advisers.
“It’s not a matter of counterbalancing as it is complements,” he said. “We complement each other well. We have a diverse set of advisers who bring different perspectives to the table. And obviously, when we announce a replacement, that person will be able to provide that type of complement, as well.”
